Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, one of the biggest names in the gaming industry, Hearthstone is a free-to-play digital collectible game card game that was earlier named Heroes of Warcraft.
It’s a PvP video game where players fight against one another using decks of 30 cards. Players can also upgrade their cards by buying more through an in-game currency called gold or purchasing them via microtransactions.
Ever since its release in 2014, the game is frequently updated which often cause some issues to affect the gameplay. A few months ago, players reported that they were unable to challenge or spectate their friends.
Now, reports from Hearthstone players suggest that many are stuck at reconnecting when playing the newly released Mercenaries game mode. They are greeted with a message saying ‘You were reconnected to your game. Resuming…’ which players say is not dismissable.
The issue is making it impossible for people to play the game, with many saying they waited for hours. Since then, some have tried reinstalling the game but it hasn’t helped either. You can see in the image below how the error looks like.
Fortunately, Blizzard Customer Support seems to be aware of the issue where Hearthstone players are stuck at reconnecting and said the concerned team is currently investigating it. However, they did not share any ETA for a fix.
That being said, when Blizzard resolves the issue, we will update this article to let you know so make sure you stay tuned for further updates.
Update 1 (December 04)
12:30 pm (IST): There’s a workaround for the issue where Hearthstone players are stuck at reconnecting. Those affected can try and see if it helps.

– The message will change to “Unable to reconnect to your game” if Hearthstone cannot successfully reconnect you to your last game. You can dismiss this message and start a new game.
– The message will change to “You were reconnected to your last game. Resuming…” if Hearthstone successfully reconnects you to your game in progress. (Source)
