Mehwish Hayat, an actor who plays Mehwish in Ms. Marvel, expressed her dissatisfaction that Bollywood stars had not stood up for Pakistani audiences during difficult times. Numerous well-known persons have expressed the desire to assist the people of Pakistan as a result of the terrible floods. Mehwish, one of Pakistan’s most popular actors, has urged Bollywood to get involved in politics and show that they “care about their fans in Pakistan.”
Mehwish remarked that he’s made a “good point” in her response to BBC journalist Haroon Rashid’s tweet on Bollywood celebs not addressing the country’s tragic affairs, and she stated how a kind word just wouldn’t harm.
“The silence from the Bollywood fraternity is deafening. ‘Suffering knows no nationality, race, or religion – no better time for them to show us that they can rise above nationalist politics and care about their fans in Pakistan. We are hurting and a kind word or two would not go amiss,” she posted on her Instagram story.
It’s interesting that very few Bollywood stars have commented about the tragic floods in Pakistan – spread awareness, share information, merely show sympathy. Haroon had originally stated in his post that he honestly believed that humanity knows no borders. They are aware of how well-liked they are and how much that recognition would mean.
Mehwish Hayat, an activist, has been bringing attention to the destruction in the nation through social media. To help the nation, she has also been speaking to the press to foreign news organizations. The creator and author of Ms. Marvel, Bisha K. Ali, has gotten involved with the cause and has pledged to match any donations made by her fans.
Thanking her, Mehwish posted an Instagram story writing, “thank you so much for doing this! Appreciate your gesture, we need all the help we can get. We need more generous people like you.”
More than 1200 individuals in Pakistan have died as a result of the floods, and thousands more are now without shelter and food. Poorna Jagannathan, the star of Never Have I Ever on Netflix, recently urged her followers to support Pakistan. Bela Hadid, a famous supermodel, also wanted to know how she could provide a hand to the nation hit by the floods.
For her parts in movies like Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Actor in Law, and Chhalawa, Mehwish Hayat is well-known. She has also appeared in the hit drama series Kami Reh Gayi and Meray Qatil Meray Dildar. She starred as Aisha, one of the “noors,” in the Hotstar series Ms. Marvel, starring Fawad Khan. Her most recent film, London Nahi Jaunga alongside Humayan Saeed, was released in July and enjoyed a good amount of box office success.
