Amid the ongoing drugs controversy involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, educational tech company, Byjus has pulled all its ads featuring the Bollywood superstar, reports Economic Times. SRK has been the brand ambassador since 2017 and reportedly earns about 3-4 crores per year to endorse.
Ever since Aryan’s arrest came into the spotlight, netizens have been calling out the Bengaluru-based startup for continuing its association with the actor. After facing the social media heat, Byjus decided to take down all its ads featuring SRK.
SRK also supports a number of other well-known companies, like Hyundai, Big Basket, LG, ICICI Bank, and Dubai Tourism, to name a few, but Byju’s is receiving the greatest backlash on social media. Many people have demanded that the firm permanently remove the superstar as its brand ambassador. Some even claimed that marketing a learning software by someone who can’t even educate his own child is bad for the firm.
“They had planned for IPL advertising as well for Byju’s, and now there is some pain as the competition moves on to the next level.” “It’s unclear if they’ll be allowed to withdraw from all IPL promotions,” a source told the Economic Times.
The NCB detained Aryan Khan on October 2 in connection with the luxury cruise drug case, for the uninitiated. The famous youngster was sent in judicial detention for 14 days on Friday. More information and updates are anticipated.
