The Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale remains one of the most popular games in the world, and so it makes sense that Activision has a consistent pipeline of new content in store for it. While there’s always new content coming to Call of Duty: Warzone, the next couple of months are especially exciting for the battle royale game, with fans having even more to look forward to than usual.
The next couple of months of Call of Duty: Warzone will see the game finish up its integration with Black Ops Cold War and transition to Call of Duty: Vanguard. It will also see the return of the popular Haunting event that was featured last year, but with some new Halloween and horror-themed content for players to check out. A brand new map is also in store for Call of Duty: Warzone, with it expected to launch before the year is out.
Here is everything Call of Duty: Warzone fans have to look forward to these next couple of months.
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 (Out Now)
Call of Duty: Warzone just launched Season 6 of its integration with Black Ops Cold War, and with Call of Duty: Vanguard’s release date right around the corner, it seems likely that Season 6 will be the last joint season between Warzone and Black Ops.
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 comes with some massive changes to the battle royale’s Verdansk map, helping to set the stage for the Call of Duty: Vanguard launch. Call of Duty: Warzone’s Downtown has been ravaged by fissures as of the Season 6 update, plus World War 2 bunkers can be found around the map. Call of Duty: Vanguard is set during World War 2, so the bunkers are a way to tease the new content coming to the game soon.
One of the more notable changes made to Call of Duty: Warzone with the Season 6 update is the return of the original Gulag. Activision has brought the original Gulag back to Call of Duty: Warzone as part of Season 6, making one minor change by adding new lockers where players spawn. These new lockers are meant to give players a new sightline that wasn’t available with the original version of the Gulag.
As Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 goes on, fans can expect new Operators, weapons, and more to be added to the game. Activision hasn’t revealed exactly when all of htis content will be coming to Warzone specifically, but it has confirmed the start date for the upcoming Halloween event.
Call of Duty: Warzone - The Haunting (October 19)
Like last year, Call of Duty: Warzone is celebrating Halloween with a special event called The Haunting, which starts October 19 and ends on November 2. The Haunting will alter the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale map to give it a more Halloween feel, plus it will be adding other content appropriate for the Halloween season. Specific details on exactly what The Haunting is bringing to the table this year have yet to be shared by Activision, but leaks have potentially let the cat out of the bag early.
If the leaks are to be believed, Call of Duty: Warzone is adding a Ghostface skin, based on the killer from the horror movie franchise Scream. A glitch in Call of Duty: Warzone has actually made Ghostface appear in the lobby already for some players, so the character’s addition to the battle royale is just a matter of Activision making the announcement. Another leak has suggested that the rabbit from Donnie Darko will also be featured as a Warzone skin, though there is less evidence proving that is true.
Last year’s Halloween event saw Activision alter the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale map to include new areas based on horror franchises like Saw and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It will be interesting to see if something similar happens with The Haunting 2021.
Call of Duty: Warzone Vanguard Integration
Call of Duty: Warzone integrated itself with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when that game launched last year, and it will be doing the same with Call of Duty: Vanguard. It’s unclear exactly when Call of Duty: Warzone’s Vanguard integration will take place, though it’s unlikely to happen right when the new game launches since it will be in the middle of Season 6. The more likely scenario is that the Call of Duty: Vanguard Warzone integration will take place at the end of November or sometime in December.
Call of Duty: Warzone’s Vanguard integration will see Operators from Vanguard added to the Warzone battle royale, along with weapons introduced in Vanguard. This means that a host of World War 2-era weapons will be coming to the Call of Duty battle royale. This has potential to drastically change the meta, as Call of Duty: Vanguard weapons can have up to 10 attachments in some cases.
There was some controversy when Call of Duty: Warzone integrated with Black Ops Cold War, so it will be interesting to see what happens when the BR links up with Vanguard.
Call of Duty: Warzone New Map
One of the most exciting things coming to Call of Duty: Warzone in the next couple of months is a brand new large scale map. Call of Duty: Warzone is getting a new map based on the Pacific Theater of World War 2, transporting players to a tropical area that should be a significant departure from what they’re used to with Verdansk. This new Call of Duty: Warzone map marks the first new large scale map that the game has seen since launch, and it could be just what it needs to not only keep longtime fans engaged but bring lapsed players back into the fold as well.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
