Call of Duty: Warzone fans have been dealing with a new issue as of late, as the game’s switch Verdansk 84 has changed the map’s weather. As a result, visibility has never been worse inside the battle royale, though Raven has promised Call of Duty: Warzone fans a fix.
The previous version of Verdansk featured a fairly dreary skybox. While it was daytime, the sky was cloudy and the blue color of it was fairly dimmed. In the Verdansk 84 map, the weather has changed, with the clouds moving away and the sun coming out. While this has resulted in a warmer color pallet and a nice visual change for the map, it has come with a downside. Specifically, players feel as if the lighting caused by the sun is far too bright.
On specific areas of the map, players will see the sun staring brightly in their direction, forced to turn away due to its brightness. This could be a major disadvantage for players if an enemy is nearby, as they could be facing away from the sun and not need to deal with the distraction. As shown by Redditor and Call of Duty: Warzone fan josephbrosif, the issue extends to the maps windows as well. Whenever players approach a window in a dimly lit house, specifically attics, they will see a blinding light in front of them.
Fortunately, a Raven Software developer responded with a now-removed Tweet, as VFX artist @fx_reed stated that he will adjust the sun’s lens flare in response to player complaints. While this is good news, he did clarify in a second Tweet that he cannot fix all the issues Call of Duty: Warzone has. While the lens flare will be fixed, other issues related to the map’s weather cannot. God rays and sun brightness cannot be fixed by the developer, for example, and neither can the much-maligned haziness of Verdansk 84.
While fans have praised Raven Software’s work on gun balancing and adjusting Call of Duty: Warzone’s TTK, they have been highly critical of the addition of haziness. Clips like the one from RichardsonM24 show off the issue clearly, as certain parts of Verdansk are now covered in dense fog. This makes visibility “awful,” with ranged gunfights being far less enjoyable. If players want a fix for this problem, @fx_reed tells fans to send their complaints to Raven Software directly, and many gamers have already begun to do so.
While it could be some time before the haziness is fixed and sniping in Call of Duty: Warzone is easy again, fans can at least look forward to a less troublesome sun in the near future. With the issue being worked on today, the battle royale game’s next patch should include the fix.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
