Charlie Barnett is switching from time loops to lightsabers.

The Acolyte, the newest Star Wars series, is now in final negotiations to cast the actor. His most well-known performance was with Natasha Lyonne in the well-liked Netflix series Russian Doll.

Leslye Headland, who co-created Russian Doll and is currently show-running, writing, and directing the Star Wars series, and Barnett will reunite if the deal is successful.

It is known that the series is set in the High Republic’s latter days, which were a wealthy time for Jedi, even though narrative details are being kept under wraps. In Star Wars slang, the Sith, the Jedi’s adversaries on the dark side, have acolytes, whereas the Jedi have apprentices. Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae from Squid Game, Jodie Turner-Smith from Queen & Slim, and Manny Jacinto from The Good Place all appear in the Lucasfilm-produced Disney+ series.

The specifics of Barnett’s personality were kept a mystery, however, sources indicate that it is supportive.

Barnett played a man imprisoned in a time loop in the film Russian Doll. He meets Nadia Vulvokov, played by Lyonne, who is also caught in one, and the two of them work together to solve their separate puzzles. The actor also made appearances on Chicago Fire, You, and Arrow.

Barnett is represented by Gersh and Stagecoach Entertainment.
