The release date has been set for the upcoming Weird Al Yankovic biopic starring British actor Daniel Radcliffe. The biopic will be made available to watch on Roku from November 4, 2022, onwards.
As per sources, the streaming service posted the movie’s poster on its Instagram account. It featured Radcliffe facing away from the camera, dressed in red, holding an accordion by his side.
The caption read, “Daniel Radcliffe is WEIRD. Stream #WEIRDTheAlYankovicStory free on November 4. Only on The Roku Channel.”
Along with Quinta Bruson and Evan Rachel Wood, the biography also includes:
- Wilson as Dr. Demento,
- Madonna, and
- Evan Rachel Wood as Oprah Winfrey
Yankovic’s parents, Julianne Nicholson and Toby Huss appear in the film as well. Yankovic worked closely with Eric Appel, who also served as the film’s director, and acted as a co-writer on the biography.
According to sources, Radcliffe discussed his experience when first landing the part in a March 2022 interview on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
Prior to being selected to play Al in the film, he claimed to have never met the man. When they first spoke, Radcliffe remembered remarking to Al: He said that he was immensely flattered by the idea that they would pick him to play the role.
He continued by recalling an incident from the “Graham Norton show” from 13 or 14 years earlier, when he sang a comical cover of Colin Farrell and Rihanna’s guest appearance song, “The Elements,” by Tom Lehrer.
