A new teaser for the upcoming special Entergalactic from Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi and Kenya Barris was published by Netflix, providing viewers a longer glimpse at the brilliantly animated tale of a young artist navigating life and love in New York City. The new footage, in fact, emphasizes the romantic aspect of the program, hinting at how the two creators who make up its core meet by chance and pursue a romantic relationship.
In the teaser, Jabari (Mescudi) is introduced as he settles into his new New York City flat, an industrial-style environment with lots of open space and, most importantly, freedom. He starts hunting for love while enjoying his new life in the expansive metropolitan but soon finds himself in a precarious predicament. He gets along well with Meadow (Jessica Williams), a fellow photographer and new neighbor. It is obvious that the two have a particular connection after going on a date that culminated in a passionate bike ride home. However, the resurgence of his ex-girlfriend into his life and the development of his art career throw a kink in everything. Jabari’s pals give him those much-needed suggestions on how to put in the effort to make his and Meadow’s relationship real because it appears like he’s committed to making this one last.
In addition to revealing the love tale at the heart of Entergalactic, the teaser displays a wide range of settings created in the special’s gorgeous, distinctive animation style. The animation work was recently included in 2021’s Ron’s Gone Wrong, which the company co-produced with Locksmith Animation. The credit goes to DNEG. With their project, Mescudi and Barris have chosen a vivid color scheme to complement the animation’s almost artistic quality. This has produced some jaw-dropping views where even the smallest details stand out.
Prior to being a special produced by Fletcher Moules and written by Ian Edelman and Maurice Williams for Netflix, Entergalactic was a Netflix series. Timothée Chalamet makes his voice acting debut in this special, which also stars Ty Dolla $ign, Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Castro, and Macaulay Culkin.
Mescudi will not only be appearing in the film but also demonstrating his musical abilities by producing an album that will serve as the soundtrack for the special that will be released concurrently. With the release of Entergalactic, Mescudi’s eighth studio album, has remained one of the top names in music to this day under the name Kid Cudi. The special will continue his steadily expanding on-screen presence. He most recently gained attention for his performance in Ti West’s critically praised horror movie X and will next be seen in John Woo’s action flick Silent Night, among other projects. In 2023, his original series Teddy will allow him to expand his skill set to include writing and directing.
