Captain America is one of the most emblematic characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the character obviously left a mark in the hearts of many people. Played by Chris Evans, Steve Rogers had his fair share of ups and downs during his valiant road to the Infinity Saga, eventually capped by an emotional yet rewarding conclusion during Avengers: Endgame.

As the MCU embraces a new chapter, Captain America’s future is currently uncertain, as the series is currently focusing on spotlighting new heroes such as Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk in the coming years. However, considering the character’s importance, it would not be shocking if Evans were to go back down the line to theoretically give his blessing to the new incarnation of the Avengers.

Interestingly, Endgame director Joe Russo had previously teased that Evans had “not yet done” Captain America’s role. Now, it seems that the assertion was true, as a recent study may very well indicate that the MCU veteran’s tenure in the franchise is far from over.

On the surface, this is a thrilling piece of news for MCU fans everywhere. Evans’ return to the MCU poses a huge array of plot possibilities in the future as it offers the character an opportunity to shine again while still addressing unsolved questions, such as the intense discussion about what happened when he went back in time during Avengers: Endgame.

Right now, a large part of Marvel Studios’ attention is on Disney+. This means that Evans’ return as Captain America may happen first on the streaming network, before finally returning to the big screen.

Provided that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier have already completed filming, it is unlikely that Evans will make a cameo appearance in the season. Based on the Step 4 MCU slate, there is a strong possibility that the actor will return either to Secret Invasion or to a brand different property like the previously-rumored Nomad-based film.

As for the film side of things, Avengers 5 is the most realistic way for Evans to return as a star-spangled hero. In a way, Steve Rogers’ much-awaited return to support the current iteration of the squad is definitely a must-see.
