2023 is set for a number of blockbusters in cinemas to release. One of them is Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. For now, only those audiences catching Avatar: The Way of Water will have a chance to catch the debut trailer for Oppenheimer, as the first official trailer was only playing in the movie screening of the newly released Avatar: the way of water.

Much of the buzz about Oppenheimer stems from the fact that it features one of the most star-studded casts in Hollywood history, with many of today’s greatest celebrities. The movie starring, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Gary Oldman, and Jack Quaid are what makes all the anticipation and wait for the movie worth it.

The trailer is fantastic, and focuses mostly on what may be a career-defining performance from Cillian Murphy who plays the character of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, commonly known as the “father of the atomic bomb,”. Emily Blunt plays his wife, Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, who is also a physicist, and Florence Pugh plays his mistress, psychiatrist Jean Tatlock. Co-stars include Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Rami Malek, Dane DeHaan, Kenneth Branagh, and many more.

If you are familiar with the real Oppenheimer’s story, you know it’s full of drama, with no real happy ending in store for the father of the A-bomb (atomic bombe), who, as the trailer shows, saw the use of the A-bomb as a bit of a paradox, because in order to potentially save the world, they had to bring it to the brink of destruction.

The film is based on Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. It is presently scheduled to hit theatres on July 21, 2023.
