Let’s just admit that the Chromecast with Google TV hasn’t been shy of issues. At least for some. We previously have highlighted a range of issues that have been bothering users for quite a while now.
Some of them include audio sync issues, intermittent stuttering, 5.1 surround sound issues, and more. Of course, you are free to go through these if you happen to be facing any of them.
Anyway, there is now yet another issue being faced by several users wherein the video playback keeps freezing on the Chromecast with Google TV. There have been several complaints regarding this.
While most of the complainants have stated that they face the issue mostly on the YouTube TV app, there have been plenty of complaints that state otherwise.
Moreover, as you can see from the above comments, the issue is limited to video playback only as many have said that when the freezing occurs, the audio continues to play just fine in the background.
Further, plenty of users have also observed that the issue occurs mostly before going into or during a commercial. Ads are annoying enough already, and them leading to freezing and hanging issues is totally unacceptable.
Also worth mentioning here is that a couple of users have stated that the new update that carries the version number of QTS2.200918.033 has not solved the issue. Hence, updating to the latest firmware may not be of any help.
That said, we have curated a list of potential workarounds that have been given out by none other than the users themselves.
A few users were able to work around the issue by turning off energy optimization for streaming apps as shown below. You are free to try the same.
