COD Modern Warfare 2 is finally available for gamers all over the world. Call of Duty fans are excited to try out the game, enjoy its new campaign and destroy opponents in multiplayer.

However, Modern Warfare 2’s release did not go as smooth as Activision would have wanted. The word that adequately sums up the game’s launch would be ‘chaotic’.

The servers going down just a few hours after launch did not make the situation any better.

The game was released in New Zealand before any other region forcing hardcore COD fans to try things like the ‘New Zealand trick’ to get early access to the game.

The ‘New Zealand trick’ involves changing your account location to enjoy the game a few hours before everyone else. Fortunately, the game has now rolled out in almost every region making the trick unnecessary.

Do note that the developers of the game do not recommend using the trick as it might make the game temporarily inaccessible in some cases.

Adding to the chaos, many COD Modern Warfare 2 players are currently experiencing an issue where they are unable to unlink their Activision account from their devices.

Modern Warfare 2 players who accidentally added the wrong Activision account on their consoles or Steam profiles are stuck as they find it impossible to unlink it.

Some no longer have access to the email that they used while creating their old Activision account. This means that they won’t be able to receive the verification codes that are required to make major changes.

PlayStation users are also getting a message saying that they won’t be able to change their Activision account for the next 12 months. Many are wondering why a billion-dollar company doesn’t offer better account recovery options.

It’s worth noting that the issue affects both console and PC players. Unfortunately, the developers are yet to acknowledge the issue where COD Modern Warfare 2 players are unable to unlink their Activision account.

We hope they figure out a way to make the account unlinking and recovery process easier for those who no longer have access to their old accounts.

05:16 pm (IST): Infinity Ward has confirmed that they have resolved the issue where players are unable to edit their Profile Showcase.

So the issue where players are unable to unlink the Activision account should now be resolved.

08:22 pm (IST): Infinity Ward has confirmed that they have resolved an issue that was preventing players from editing their Profile Showcase.
