With this week’s OVO Fest, Drake continued his recent streak of working with iconic musicians. The event was launched by none other than Nelly Furtado.

Drizzy was indeed successful in securing the secretive Canadian musician for his North Stars performance on Thursday. Since at least 2017, NF hasn’t performed in front of an audience, and since 2007 she hasn’t given a lot of performances overall.

She had plenty of fan-favorite hits in the 2000s, some of which she sang with Champagne Papi and the rest of the audience while they all went insane. Of course, she was hot stuff back then.

You’ve got to watch this because Drake hyped it up by encouraging the crowd to sing loudly for the next performer he was going to introduce, stressing that it was kind of a mission to persuade her to come out like this. Then Nelly appears, and it gets crazy.

Among other songs, she sang “Promiscuous Girl” and “I’m Like a Bird,” and her performance ultimately turned into a sing-along. Drake even remarked at one point that she had a choir on her hands that night, so she was feeling the support of the OVO audience.

Nelly stepped away because she struggled with the spotlight. So it’s amazing that Drake was able to free her. People continue to enjoy Nelly Furtado even all these years later.
