Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage by an armed guy while performing at the Hollywood Bowl venue in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, with videos from audience members’ cellphones swiftly circulating on social media, showing a man appearing to leap onto the stage and tackle the comic. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a 23-year-old guy brandished a weapon at Chappelle, which was later confirmed to be an imitation handgun with a knife blade.

Isaiah Lee, a Los Angeles resident, was detained and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. In the incident, Chappelle was unharmed.

The knife is attached to the gun’s barrel like a bayonet. The rifle, as we previously reported, was a replica, but the knife is real… and might have been lethal if the attacker had used it when he leapt onto the platform and lunged at Dave, smashing him to the ground. As you may be aware, a slew of celebrities, including Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes, assaulted the man, who was injured and transported to the hospital. He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
